Born in Peterborough New Hampshire Rick's love of photography started when his father let him use his Polaroid instant camera. Until 1984 he never had more than a Kodak 110 snap camera. He later joined his college news paper as a sports photographer so he could have a 35mm Nikon and the free use of a darkroom. Through the 80s & early 90s he explored photographing people. In 1994 he decided to venture into a career of commercial work. In 1997 he started Widgetpix Studios specializing in Studio and location photography of products and people for advertising and corporate clients. In 2004 he shot his first feature length film (The Present, a science fiction thriller) for Purple Crayon Productions. Rick's photographs appear in corporate brochures, annual reports, electronic promotions, national and trade magazines, and regional and national advertising campaigns. As an Industrial Artist Rick has created many creative solutions to put the best face on the world of manufactured products and the people who make them. His philosophy is simple: "If you have something to say, it can be said more effectively in a picture."
Rick teaches photoshop and advanced photo-compositing to corporate clients and designers. Rick makes himself available to community organizations . He was recognized as "Father of the Year" for 2003 by Eliot Maine. Rick is a single father of two elementary school aged daughters living on the New Hampshire coast where he enjoys working boats, and building tree-houses.
